Der Panzerbär – Last issue!
DER PANZERBÄR, Battle sheet for the Defenders of Greater Berlin.
Printed in Berlin in the last days of the Second World War. It appeared only seven times between 23 - 29 April 1945.
The Red Army had already taken large parts of Berlin. This issue appeared on 29 April and on 30 April 1945, Hitler and Eva Braun committed suicide in the Führerbunker.
In Kochstrasse, in the ruins of the PRESSHOUSE not far from the Führerbunker, this newspaper was printed. Large stacks remained in the print shop and on the street. Therefore, it was not distributed. This offered copy is an absolutely unique example.
This sheet does not light up under UV light (see photo).
Moderate/poor condition with damage and notes.
29 April 1945: this is the LAST NUMBER!!!!
By the way: reprints exist from the 80s and 90s (printed on more modern paper).
Der Panzerbär was a German daily tabloid newspaper published in the final days of World War II in Berlin. It was produced by the Reich Ministry of Propaganda and published by the Ullstein-Verlag. The newspaper was printed between April 23 and April 29, 1945, during the Battle of Berlin. Its logo featured a standing bear holding a shovel and a Panzerfaust anti-tank weapon, referring to the coat of arms of Berlin. The newspaper provided Nazi propaganda regarding the battle against the Soviet Red Army.
