🪖 Why were children sent away?
There were a few main reasons in the Dutch context:
1. Protection from war danger
- Bombings and military activity
- Especially in cities or strategic areas
2. Food shortages (very important)
- Severe shortages, especially later in the war
- Children were sent to:
- rural areas
- farming families
