The Last German Propaganda Poster

On May 5, the Netherlands was liberated. The population of many cities, including THE HAGUE, did not yet dare to celebrate the regime change exuberantly and anxiously awaited the arrival of the Allied troops, the CANADIANS. They arrived in THE HAGUE on May 7.

During those tense days, the Germans produced their final printed materials, including this poster, which can be regarded as the last convulsion of the German occupation.

This poster was put up on May 5, 1945, and shortly afterwards removed from the wall while the glue was still not completely dry.

Removing it was not without risk, considering the final sentence, in which violence was threatened. (And the population had plenty of experience with that!!!)

Hardly any photographs of this poster actually displayed on a wall are known. The photograph shown from The Hague is the only one known to me. For illustration purposes only.
