Dutch Liberation Poster – May 1945

An exceptionally evocative original Dutch liberation poster from May 1945.

The Netherlands was free — and this poster made that clear in the simplest and most suggestive way possible. No slogan, no explanation, no words were needed. The image itself told the story.

Probably printed in England, this large-format poster was made to celebrate the liberation of the Netherlands at the end of the Second World War.

The poster measures approximately 75 × 100 cm and is printed on heavy-quality paper. It is in damaged condition and clearly shows traces of having actually been displayed: the wear and damage are part of the history of the piece and confirm that this was not simply stored away, but used as a genuine liberation poster in May 1945.

A rare!!! (take my word for it!!!) and highly evocative original liberation poster, and a striking piece of Dutch history from the first days of freedom.
