SS Standarte Kurt Eggers – Postal Cover

Original empty envelope addressed to the Dutch SS Kriegsberichter Unterscharführer Chr. Wenninger Mulder, a Dutch volunteer serving with the Waffen-SS.

The envelope carries a handwritten address:

Berlin-Zehlendorf
Heimat 27

In addition, “Gruppe Ausland” is written in red pencil.

The envelope bears a number of interesting postal cancellations and markings, making this a particularly unusual piece of postal history connected to a Dutch Waffen-SS volunteer.

Of particular interest are the “Geöffnet” and “geprüft” markings. These indicate that correspondence to and from SS volunteers could be opened and inspected, providing a tangible example of the postal controls applied to such correspondence during the war.
