Notorious WA Leader Feenstra

Original photograph of J.E. Feenstra, Heerban leader of the WA in The Hague. In May he was transferred to Arnhem in the position of head of the Marechaussee of the Arnhem district.

He was notorious and feared for his aggressive pursuit of resistance members and Jews.

After the war he was sentenced to death and executed on August 29, 1946.

This photograph was taken during the Christmas march of 1940. Behind him stands a Hopman of the (motorized) WA, recognizable by the golden cogwheel on the lower left sleeve.

Slight damage at the top left and right.
