He was furious that Dutch civilians had helped British pilots who had made emergency landings in the Netherlands.
The punishments were draconian: five Dutch civilians were sentenced to death.

Remarkably, this Bekanntmachung exists only in the German language and not, as was customary, with a Dutch text printed alongside it.
