Dutch Recruitment Print – Eastern Work

Toward the end of the war, there was an enormous shortage of, among others, metalworkers, bricklayers, carpenters, etc. The able-bodied men were at various fronts in Europe, and many women worked in German factories.

With posters like this, the Germans tried to entice Dutch skilled workers (in this case, metalworkers) to come work in Germany. The conditions were usually less pleasant than this idyllic landscape suggests.
