Operation Manna, Part II

Remembering the Lifesaving Food Drops of 1945

In late April, Allied bombers dropped food in the western Netherlands to assist the starving population after a harsh winter.

Reich Commissioner Seyss-Inquart distrusted the operation and issued warnings in Dutch and German (as seen in the two flyers) not to fall for this "propaganda trick."

Fortunately, the operation, named OPERATION MANNA, proceeded and saved many lives.

The food sacks were labeled with contents lists.

This batch is particularly suited for exhibitions!

The last three photos merely illustrate the situation of that time.

Let me know if you’d like further refinements!
