The Leuteraar, 1st Year No. 6

Mocking the Fleeing: De Leuteraar’s Satire

Probably inspired by the success of the satirical magazine DE GIL, people mostly mocked those who left their posts after Dolle Dinsdag and fled toward Germany. These individuals were called “drossers,” meaning those who sneaked away, made a run for it, or disappeared.

"To now prevent these people from still finding ways to cover themselves in these chaotic times, we have created DE LEUTERAAR.”

The term leuteraar means something like "chatterbox" or "good-for-nothing."

The tone is mocking, semi-humorous. For example: it appears regularly at irregular times; Telephone 0000 (6 lines), etc.

Very rare publication!!
